A place to keep from vomiting Sherlock all over my personal and let my Sherlove flag fly high. |
It has potential to be great, but I think the #1 thing that we have to do is not take it as a Sherlock Holmes story, but hold it separate. If we get closed minded or have expectations, I think we are up for disappointment. But it could still be a good show… I don’t even know!
So I have spent the majority of my down time over spring break reading Sherlock Holmes finally because honestly why did it take me this long? I call myself a fangirl but haven’t read the books? Jesus. Anyways. So I was reading them. And the character Gregson came along and I was like ok whatever but then I was like WAIT. Officers Gregson and Lestrade. BBC COMBINED THEM INTO ONE HUMAN BEING. MOFFAT! I UNDERSTAND THIS NOW. HOW TERRIBLY CLEVER OF THEM. Anyways I just had to share that. I bet you all knew this already because you’re not embarrassing like me. But yeah.
I BELIEVE.
I just scoured every frame of the end of Reichenbach…
I found a few things very strange but couldn’t pinpoint exactly how they come into play.
For example, Sherlock VERY slowly and deliberately folded his hands behind his back while first approaching Moriarty.
Still baffled by Mrs. Hudson being pulled away in the cemetery. Someone appeared to walk out with her…
Also, Sherlock seemed almost too oblivious to the code thing being a fake/lie, and was also way too open with his plans at that point (“Oh I’ll just use the code to beat you and undo all your work”). And the fact that the beat was to a Bach? He’d totally know that, as a classical musician. Not something he’d delete…
Finally, there was a VERY strong focus on the people below. Sherlock first looked for them when glancing over the ledge, and a few other times the focus was offhanded thrown to them.
Idk. I’m not a master at deductions. But I tried at least picking up on things that are strange…
(By the way, I’m totally convinced on the ball theory, to stop his pulse)
Really guys? And ruin it? I kinda understand why this would be intriguing to read and solve - actually I very much do - but it’s no fun if you’re right! I’m sure we’ll still all be very thrilled when Season 3 comes along no matter what, but doesn’t it defeat the purpose if we already have the solution? No book is quite the same if you’ve read the last page.
Think of how eager we were to figure out how Sherlock and John got out of that pool house. How fantastic it was when something we’ve puzzled over for months is solved by the freaking BeeGees. And now we’re getting spoilers, basically, for next year?
I’m not reprimanding those who have been theorizing. And the more I look at this mini-rant, the more ridiculous it sounds, because I’m not sure exactly what I’m trying to say. The point of Sherlock is to solve problems and make deductions, and it’s exciting that the fandom is now given that chance. And we have the reunion to look forward to for big surprises and moments in the episode. Just be aware, I guess…
